Meeting Safely — Especially for Blind Dates

Safety First: calm, practical guidance for conversation-first connections and meeting in person.

Meeting safely

At DateBeyondBorders, many connections begin through conversation before meeting in person. Whether it is a blind date or a traditional date, your safety and comfort always come first.

We encourage all users to take sensible precautions before meeting someone for the first time.

Our Safety First policy

We do not verify real-world identity and we do not run background checks. You are responsible for your own choices about who to meet, when, and where. When in doubt, think twice and wait until you feel confident.

Before you meet

  • Take time to get to know the person through conversation first.
  • If you feel unsure, consider a video call before meeting.
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels off, take a step back.
  • Do not feel pressured to meet before you are ready.
  • Make sure you feel comfortable with the person.

When you meet

  • Meet in a public place such as a café or restaurant.
  • Tell a friend or family member where you are going.
  • Arrange your own transportation to and from the meeting.
  • Keep your personal belongings and phone with you.
  • Avoid sharing sensitive personal or financial information.

During the date

  • Stay aware of your surroundings.
  • Limit alcohol consumption so you can remain alert.
  • Leave immediately if you feel uncomfortable.
  • You never owe anyone your time or attention.

If something does not feel right

Trust your instincts. If something does not feel right, you are always free to leave.

  • End the meeting politely and leave.
  • Contact someone you trust.
  • Report the user through the platform: use Report in chat where available, or visit our Report page.

Your safety always comes first.

Responsibility

DateBeyondBorders provides a platform for people to connect, but each individual is responsible for their own decisions when meeting others. We strongly encourage users to take reasonable precautions and only meet when they feel fully comfortable.
